Thanksgiving Reading...

Did you read every day over our break? Bring your reading calendar to the library this week and you can choose a "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" silly band or other Christmas prize for reading every day.
Thanks for reading!

Chris P. Bacon & his little sister Kristy...

Did you know that we have pigs in the library and they love to "pig out" on books? Classes have been recording their days read each week on our "Road to Success" poster and we have been competing to see which class can have the highest number of days read per student. The 2 classes that have the highest percentage of days read get one of the library pigs, Kristy or Chris P. Bacon, to spend the week in their class with them. READ EVERY DAY and maybe Chris or Kristy can come visit your class for a week.

Family, Thanks & Giving

November is a wonderful time of year to look at all we have to be thankful for and recognize what we can do to give back. Here are just a few special days recognized & celebrated in November. Wow! Did you know there were so many?

November is Family Stories Month - November is the perfect month to recognize the traditional pastime of family stories as we spend time with loved ones to give thanks and enjoy home-based festivities. Family stories are tales about people, places and events related to the members of our immediate family or their ancestors

National Family Literacy Day – Focuses on the importance of family literacy. First held in 1994, the annual event is officially celebrated on November 1st, but many events are held throughout the month of November.

World Kindness Day (November 13) and World Kindness Week (November 14-20) The purpose of World Kindness Day/week is to look beyond ourselves, beyond the boundaries of our country, beyond our culture, our race, our religion; and realize we are citizens of the world.

National Family Volunteer Day (November 19) Designed to showcase the benefits of families working together, and volunteer as a family. National Family Volunteer Day is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving and kicks off National Family Week

THANKSGIVING DAY (November 24) Families and friends eat a special meal, made to remember the Pilgrims, who came from England in 1620 to make a new life in North America.
