Molly's Pilgrim

This week we are watching the movie "Molly's Pilgrim", based on the book written my Barbara Cohen. It is story about a young Russian girl, Molly, that is learning to adjust to her new life in America. Molly expresses a desire to return to Russia, caused by children in her class teasing her because she is different. As they prepare for Thanksgiving, and Molly brings in a pilgrim doll that doesn't look like the others in the class, her teacher helps the children to understand why Molly and her contribution is an important part of their class.

Reading in October

During the month of October students can earn reading coupons to put in the library drawing held at the end of each month by reading Mysteries, Scary or Suspense books, or books about Halloween (of course).
Have you read any great books lately?
If you would like to share a great book you've read, ask for a "Batty about Reading" form the next time you are in the media center. You can fill the form out and hang it up in the media center for other patrons to read.

Road To Success

We had a wonderful assembly to kick off our "Road To Success" program. At the assembly each students was challenged to read 20 minutes a night for 5 days a week, 100 minutes each week. Our school will read over 2 million minutes this school year if we meet this challenge and 4 students at our school will win a new bike at the end of the year. Students receive one coupon for every 100 minutes they read and those coupons will be put into the drawing for the bikes, so read , read, read. The More you read, the more coupons you will earn.

WILD about Reading...Pet & Animal books

This year started off with books about animals and pets. What is your favorite pet? Let us know some of your favorite books you have read about animals or pets. One of my favorite authors that writes books with animals is Bill Wallace. Just a few of his books we have in the media center are Backward Bird Dog, Beauty, Blackwater Swamp, A Dog Called Kitty, Eye of the Great Bear, and Ferret in the Bedroom Lizard in the Fridge.
Have you read any of these books?
Tell us what you thought.
