WOW!

WE MORE THAN DOUBLED GOAL!!!
We collected 2,501 cranes.
The Bezos Family Foundation will donate $5,002 for those cranes.
I have mailed the cranes to Students Rebuild (even though I told you we would collect through April) because I wanted our cranes to be in the first 100,000 received so they will be included in the art installation. Thank you for all of your help !!

*We will give additional cranes collected to Osh Kosh B Gosh who is donating children's clothing to Japan cranes.

Paper Cranes for Japan

We are making origami cranes to help with the "students rebuild" effort for Japan. To find out more info on this effort go to the "students rebuild" link under online resources. We will be collecting paper cranes in the library throughout the month of April. Our goal is to collect 1,000 paper cranes?

Dewey Decimal Games

Next week will be library challenge week. Each class will be playing a game to test their knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system or the order books are put away in the library. I will be keeping score and reward the classes that get the highest scores. If you would like to practice for the game next week, go to the "Dewey Matching or Order" links under the online games list.

I appreciate you!

This week is teacher/staff appreciation week, when the PTA and students go out of their way to show their appreciation to the teachers/staff @ Orchard. I just want to let you know that I appreciate all of the love and support I feel from YOU, not just this week but all year long. I love my job and couldn't ask for a better group of students, staff & parents to work with.
Thank you,
Mrs. Morley

Online Storytime

This week we are watching the online story "Strega Nona" by Tomie dePaola on the Barnes&Noble website.
Tomie dePaola was awarded the Wilder Award this year. The Wilder Award honors an author or illustrator whose books, published in the United States, have made, over a period of years, a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children. If you would like to watch other online stories available through Barnes&Noble click on the "B&N online story" link under online resources.
